Arsakeio Elementary School
At the outset, attendees congregated in the school event hall, where the coach provided insights into the Ramps4Champs project and its executed initiatives. Subsequently, accompanied by both athletes and the coach, the group proceeded to the field for a live presentation of the boccia sport. Initially, the athletes engaged in a demonstration match, offering an elucidation of the game’s regulations. The event evolved as some participants actively joined the match, effectively exemplifying the inclusive essence of the sport.
Hobby Festival
During the Hobby festival in Thessaloniki, AETOI showcased boccia and the ramps4champs project as an inclusive sport. The 30-minute presentation began with a 5-minute introduction to the sport and its history. This was followed by a 10-minute live demonstration. The final 15 minutes featured matches involving audience members. The boccia showcase was strategically located at the festival’s entrance, ensuring that attendees spent at least 10 minutes observing the game. The presentation piqued interest, with many posing questions and seeking additional information afterward.
Anatolia College
At an event hosted by Anatolia College, AETOI’s staff and athletes introduced the inclusive game of Boccia to students and teachers. The event started with workshops about Boccia’s background and rules. Paralympic players shared their stories, adding real-world context. Attendees learned about different player types and the importance of including everyone. Live Boccia matches, with pros and students, showed the game’s dynamics and competitive spirit. To round it off, participants teamed up for hands-on Boccia games, strengthening their understanding and team bonds.
Hellenic Society for the Protection and Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons (ELEPAP)
At an event organized by the Hellenic Society for the Protection and Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons, Boccia Champions of AETOI, together with ramp operator Kastrinaki, presented the inclusive and secure game of Boccia to an engaged audience comprising students, parents, and educators. The activity commenced with interactive workshops that provided a deep dive into Boccia’s history, rules, and mechanics. Paralympic athletes and specialists were on hand to relay their personal experiences and insights, adding depth and relatability to the sessions. Attendees gained insights into the various athlete classifications in Boccia and the imperative of fostering inclusivity for individuals with disabilities. Live Boccia matches, featuring both professional athletes and students, offered attendees a firsthand look at the game in action. To immerse participants further, students and teachers were grouped into teams and equipped with Boccia gear.
